<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We were all SO happy and excited for him!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(<span style="font-size: x-small;">a wee bit scared too)</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-size: small;">Elder Smith's first area was in Agua Prieta. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-size: small;">He served there for 5 months </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-size: small;">before he was transferred to Nogales.</span></span></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-size: small;">Elder Smith served in Nogales for about 3 months when he hurt his knee. His right knee cap slipped out of place and he tore some ligaments so he was sent home for medical treatment. The Dr.s in Mexico felt that there was a tare and that Elder Smith would need surgery. When he came home he went to the Orthopedic surgeon and had an MRI and X-Rays on his knee. They didn't find any tares and felt that physical therapy would be all he would need. It has now been 3 months since he has been home and going through PT. He's not completely healed but doing much better and was just released from medical treatment. He has an interview with our stake president soon to discuss what they feel would be the best next step, going back out on the mission or to start on his college education. Elder Smith served 9 months, he had great success and he loved teaching the peoples of Mexico. His investigators lived in humble circumstances and he loved serving them in what ever way was needed.</span> <span style="font-size: small;">He was so sad to leave Mexico and his new friends. He had many experiences that helped him grow as a young man and as a spiritual giant. We are so very proud of him and of all his loving service.</span></span></div>

We are eternal beings. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We lived as spirits before we were born </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
and we will continue to live after we die.</div>
<div class="" id="p2" style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
We are eternal beings, spirit children of an eternal
God. Our lives can be compared to a three-act play: premortal life
(before we came to earth), mortal life (our time here on earth), and
postmortal life (where we go after we die). God has had a plan for our
lives since the beginning of the first act—a plan that, if followed,
provides comfort and guidance now, as well as salvation and eternal
happiness in our postmortal life. [<a href="http://lds.org/">lds.org</a>]</div>
<div class="" id="p2" style="text-align: center;">
***************** </div>
<div class="" id="p2" style="text-align: justify;">
Recently, within the last couple years, our family has experienced the loss of a loved one. My mother-in-law, Brenda Jo Hughes Smith, passed away with kidney failure. But not all is lost! We have the pure knowledge and the comfort in knowing that the mortal life is just a temporary state and that we <b><i>will</i></b> see her again. We know she continues to live and serve, just as she loved to do here on Earth.</div>
<div class="" id="p2" style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" id="p2" style="text-align: justify;">
We miss Vic's mom and we cherish our memories of her. She was a woman of faith and dignity. God be with you til we meet again Mom!</div>

<div class="" id="p2" style="text-align: justify;">
We also had a new birth in our family recently. On May 28, 2015 baby Rylan Lewis Patton joined our family! So new from the Heavens, he is our Lil' Moose weighing in at 10lb 3oz. He is such a happy baby and has brought much joy into our lives.</div>

When I began my adventure with BYU-I, the one class that I was looking most forward to taking, was the Family Foundations class. The study of The Family Proclamation. Family means EvErYtHiNg to me, so I was anxious to go into the depths of what The Lord desires regarding the family unit. I have not been disappointed! The Family: A Proclamation To The World is an amazing piece! You can go <a href="https://www.lds.org/topics/family-proclamation?lang=eng&cid=PA0414-02">here</a> to read it in full. </div>
<br />
<img alt=""The Family: A Proclamation to the World."" class="pinImage" height="400" src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/9d/8c/37/9d8c37df3e54a470fafbd04921918578.jpg" width="311" /> <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I want to testify that Christ lives, and he atoned for our sins so we can return to Him. I know that as we center our lives with the Gospel and His teachings, we can become an eternal family unit. We will feel his peace and love abundantly in our lives. I also know that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God. "Children are an heritage of the Lord," and the blessings of bringing spirit children into mortality will bless our lives throughout the eternities. I am thankful for the opportunity of taking the Family Foundations class to enhance my knowledge and for the desire to become better within my own family. </div>

<a href="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/d3/c7/9b/d3c79baa5a1917aed13118abf9897d3b.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img alt="We love BYU at DailyLDS.com" border="0" class="pinImg fullBleed loaded" height="200" src="https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/d3/c7/9b/d3c79baa5a1917aed13118abf9897d3b.jpg" width="200" /></a> I have been taking on-line classes through BYU-I for the past two years. I've loved every second of it, even on those days that I don't... so much!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It all began with the Pathways Program...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Pathways Program is perfect for those who either want to continue or to start their education in later years. Growing up all I ever wanted was to be a wife and a mom, I had no desire nor did I feel a need to get a college education. I was living my dream. I became a mom of five beautiful children, I was blessed to be a stay-at-home-mom and raise my children. Then one day when I was 47, the Pathway Missionaries came to our ward promoting the new program. I was intrigued, but not really interested. However, Heavenly Father had other plans. For about a year the Spirit kept whispering to me that this is what I needed to do. I kept fighting the feeling, but...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"> <span style="color: #b45f06;"><i>you can't fight the Lord!!</i></span></span> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I told myself that I would fast and pray about it, in which I did. Immediately I knew that I had to do what the Lord wanted me to do. Even to this day, two years later, I do not know why this is so important. Nor do I know what I should major in. So right now I'm just working on an Associates in General Studies. I figure that when the Lord is ready He will reveal what I should do and everyone needs the basics, right? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am very proud of what I have accomplished these past two years. It's hard going back to school after being out for 30+ years. But, I have gotten A's in every class, except for Math in which I got a B. I work hard for my grades. I have proven to myself that... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #b45f06;"><i><span style="font-size: large;">I can do hard things!!</span></i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">Even though I'm still not sure why I'm on this adventure, I can say I am so thankful for it!</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;">I am also thankful for obedience. I know my family has been blessed in so many ways through being obedient to the laws and commandments of the Lord. And for heeding the spirit when it speaks. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-size: small;"> </span> </span></div>

The thing is...I am <strong><em>absolutely sure</em></strong> I'll forget tons of things. So, I'll just mention the most significant things...<br /><br /><ul><br /><li>In November Vic was ordained as a High Priest in our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.</li><br /><li>December we celebrated our Savior Jesus Christs birth very quietly...it was so weird not to have Selena and her family and Brittany and her family with us. I don't like this sharing thing!! But I suppose it's something I'll have to get used to... Selena, Luther and Jaedyn did come over on Christmas Eve, and we made our traditional gingerbread houses. That was alot of fun and laughs!!</li><br /><li>The end of December, Brittany Adam and Kaleb came home for a weeks visit. We spent New Years Eve over at Selenas house and had a nice dinner, had our Family Christmas, and played New Years Eve games. Sadly we had to tell the Pattons goodbye on Jan 3rd. as they headed back to Rexburg Idaho.</li><br /><li>Cody turned 16 on January 24th and was ordained a Priest in February.</li><br /><li>In March we had a new addition to the family!! Hallee Ann Hargrove was born on March 9th at 5:19 pm. She weighed 7 lb and 2 oz. She was 19 in long. What a beauty!! She was born with tons of nearly black hair and looked ALOT like her big Sis. But Hallee has her own look. She is a calm sweet baby and we are SO proud to welcome her into our family!!</li><br /><li>March 15th was a heart wrenching day. Our sweet grandson, Kaleb, 7 months old, had surgery on his little neck. The Dr removed a very large and hard lymphnode. We are praying fervently that the test on the lymphnode comes back with good news....</li></ul>I'll try to get some pictures downloaded soon. I've miss placed my camera cord...but as soon as that booger is found, I'll post pictures...Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04062259491320277599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6865317987502820369.post-23428051226479962562012-02-23T17:30:00.002-08:002012-03-01T14:46:43.383-08:00Updates Coming!!<br /><span style="color:#000000;">WOW!!</span><br /><br /><div align="left"><span style="color:#000000;">I can't believe it's been 6 months</span></div><br /><div align="left"><span style="color:#000000;">since I've updated my blog!! </span></div><br /><div align="left"><span style="color:#000000;">My O My... Vic, Selena and I planned this party and took it 300 miles away to OKC. All of the family, both sides, siblings of Brenda and Roy, children and grandchildren and great granddaughter all made it to the party. with the Exception of one grandson and one grandaughter. Josh is in Cuba serving our country, and Brittany who lives in Idaho, expecting a baby too close to her due date to travel. And we weatherd a huge rain storm which dropped 3 inches of rain on us during the night. 2 of the 4 girls tents collapsed, the girls (10 of them) joined us leaders for about and hour and a half. When the lightening stopped, we put them on the bus to sleep through the rest of the night.The next morning this is what we faced....</span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="color:#990000;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JIkHfzV_WSo/TiioheUEknI/AAAAAAAAAGc/ulblf7uPpyY/s1600/jan-july%2B2011%2B326.jpg"><span style="color:#990000;"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631936627053204082" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JIkHfzV_WSo/TiioheUEknI/AAAAAAAAAGc/ulblf7uPpyY/s200/jan-july%2B2011%2B326.jpg" /></span></a><span style="color:#990000;"><br /><br /></span><br /><div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JL1qGeUZklY/TiiogrE0YOI/AAAAAAAAAGU/xXbw8NzhtqY/s1600/jan-july%2B2011%2B321.jpg"><span style="color:#990000;"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631936613299020002" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JL1qGeUZklY/TiiogrE0YOI/AAAAAAAAAGU/xXbw8NzhtqY/s200/jan-july%2B2011%2B321.jpg" /></span></a><span style="color:#990000;"><br /><br /></span><br /><div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JMT97GX6-Do/TiiogVtwHKI/AAAAAAAAAGM/6OwHGFr2gZY/s1600/jan-july%2B2011%2B328.jpg"><span style="color:#990000;"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5631936607565126818" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JMT97GX6-Do/TiiogVtwHKI/AAAAAAAAAGM/6OwHGFr2gZY/s200/jan-july%2B2011%2B328.jpg" /></span></a><span style="color:#990000;"> It was great fun!! of my Savior Jesus Christ. </div><br /><div align="center">It's so easy to get wrapped up<br />in the worldly wyles of materialism. </div><div align="center">And I must admit that there are times that I do just that. </div><div align="center">This has been a hard year for us financially<br />-with Vic being unemployed. </div><div align="center">I woke up this morning in the wee hours, very sad. </div><div align="center">Thinking about the things we don't have...<br />you know, a private pity party. </div><div align="center">But thankfully my heart did a flip flop </div><div align="center">and my heart turned from the pity party into a rejoicing party.<br />So I want to jot down the things I AM thankful for.<br /></div><div align="center">*First and foremost I'm thankful for my Savior Jesus Christ.<br />I know He loves me, even when I'm not very lovable.<br />I know He is always standing next to me<br />wiping away my tears when they fall.<br />He is always there rejoicing with me in my triumphs.<br />He is always protecting me and my loved ones from harm.<br />I know He died for me<br />so that I may stand before my Father in Heaven guiltless,<br />as long as I do my part,<br />so that I too, may return to my Heavenly Home<br />and live my 'Happily Ever After'. </div><br /><div align="center"></div><div align="center">*I am thankful for my wonderful husband, Vic.</div><div align="center">Just as my Savior is, he is there to wipe away my tears,<br />rejoice with me, and to protect me.<br />My husband has an incredible love for me<br />and the children we've borne together.<br />He is my best friend and my lover.<br />He is my soul mate and I am in awe of him<br />and all he does for me and our family.</div><br /><div align="center"></div><div align="center">*I am thankful for my beautiful children.</div><div align="center">I have the BEST kids ever!!<br />They are what I live for, they bring me great happiness.<br />They do make me crazy at times, to be totally honest,<br />but that's what they're supposed to do...right?<br />They have been awesome this year in all the ups and downs<br />and NEVER complain.<br />With the holiday season upon us,<br />not once have they been the typical whiny kids<br />with the 'I want, I want, I want' attitude.<br />They go out of their way to give rather than take. </div><br /><div align="center"></div><div align="center">*I'm thankful that my daughters<br />have found the love of their lives<br />and am thankful for my Son-in-Laws,<br />and the love they have for my daughters.</div><br /><div align="center"></div><div align="center">*I'm thankful for my beautiful granddaughter.<br />My sweet baby Jaedyn has brought such joy<br />and laughter into my life this year.<br />She truly has been a great blessing in our lives.<br />When everything else seems dark,<br />all I have to do is look into her beautiful bright eyes<br />and know all is well and good.</div><br /><div align="center"></div><div align="center">*I'm thankful for good health.</div><div align="center">I'm thankful for the opportunity to have a body<br />that allows me to do 'most' of the things I want.<br />I would love to lose some poundage,<br />but overall, I know that I'm healthy and my family is healthy.<br />That is such a great blessing in itself.<br />We all have small aches and pains,<br />but Heavenly Father has watched over us this year<br />and thankfully we haven't had any major health issues.</div><br /><div align="center"></div><div align="center">*I'm thankful for Vic's new job.</div><div align="center">He has just started and it is a commission only type of job.<br />We haven't seen any monetary blessings from the job itself yet.<br />But, just having it and knowing the potential it can bring<br />has brought new life into our home.<br />I know Vic will do amazing in this new quest. </div><br /><div align="center"></div><div align="center">*I am thankful for good friends.</div><div align="center">People have been there for us, and good to us this year.<br />You know who you are. </div><div align="center">I can't wait to be able to bless the lives of others,<br />just as others have blessed our life this year.<br />We have a roof over our head and food to eat<br />by the grace of others,<br />and soon, I want to be a blessing to those that struggle<br />and have no hope.<br /><br />It truly is humbling,<br />when I think about the many blessings<br />that have come our way this year.<br /></div><div align="center">I know God lives and loves us...<br />the proof is all around us.</div><div align="center"> </div><div align="center">So no more pity parties being held here.<br />Rejoice..Rejoice..Rejoice!!!<br /></div><br /><div align="center"></div><br /><div align="center"></div><br /><div The date was set for August 20<span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">th</span>, 2010.<br />That gave us 2 months to plan, over the phone no less, since she lives in Idaho. So there were many phone calls and emails going over the wire. She did a great job planning and letting us know her hearts desire.</span></p><p align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;"><span style="color:#ff0000;">Blessings<br /></span>We were <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">truly</span> blessed in the financial aspect concerning <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_3" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">Brittany's</span> wedding. We had great friends helping us out with the cake and pictures. Decorations were all bought at either 50% off or we borrowed items from friends and family. Brittany bought her dress from a great website. The dress was custom made, and only cost $197 plus sh&h. A friend of B & A took the pictures for the announcements, so the bulk of the announcement costs were the stamps-they were more than the announcements themselves!! Every time we turned around there were more blessings coming. Even during their <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_4" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">honeymoon</span>, the Hotel upgraded their room, at no extra costs when they found out that B & A just got married!!<br /><br /><span style="color:#ff0000;">A Beautiful Event</span><br /></span><span style="color:#ff0000;"><span style="font-size:78%;color:#000000;">Brittany and Adam chose to be married for all Time and Eternity in the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_5" class="blsp-spelling-error">Nauvoo</span> Illinois Temple. The temple overlooks the Mississippi River, and the view was breathtaking as you stepped out of the temple. Brittany makes a beautiful bride!! Her dress was beautiful, her hair was done beautifully by a dear <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_6" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">friend</span>, Kim Moss, and her flowers, roses and lilies, were beautiful. Her colors were crimson red and white with a touch of black. Adam makes a handsome groom, he wore a black tux with a crimson rose <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_7" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">boutonniere</span>. They <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_8" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">truly</span> look good together!!<br /><br /></span></span><span style="color:#ff0000;"><span style="font-size:78%;color:#000000;">The reception was the next evening in our backyard, lights lined the patio with red and white oriental lanterns hanging off of them. Music played in the background. We had a dance at the reception, starting out with B & A doing a Salsa Dance, as that was one of their favorite dates while they were dating. We had two long white <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_9" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">canopies</span> with tables topped with flowers and <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_10" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">tea lights</span>. The arbor was lined with lights and <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_11" class="blsp-spelling-error">toole</span>. The refreshments were wedding cake and strawberry cooler punch, and fruit platters with a chocolate fountain. Simple but nice.<br />It <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_12" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">truly</span> was a lovely evening!!</span></span></p><p align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;"><span style="color:#ff0000;">Other events during the summer</span><br />Vic and the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_13" class="blsp-spelling-error">YM</span> leaders took Cody and the young men from our church on a High Adventure to Colorado to do some whitewater rafting. They had an awesome time!! They rafted for two days, down the Royal Gorge, and did some site seeing another day.<br /><br />We stayed extra busy with our garden this summer. We doubled the size this year so we can do some canning. We have/had onions, beets, radishes, lettuce, <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_14" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">spinach</span>, 4 type of peppers, <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_15" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">cucumbers</span>, corn, green beans, <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_16" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">cantaloupe</span>, okra, and 14 tomato plants.<br /><br />All three kids, Amber, Cody and Shelby participated in the community parades this summer. Edgerton had 'Frontier Days' in June and Amber and Cody were in the band. Then in the beginning of August, Gardner sponsers the County Fair, and they had a parade. Again Amber and Cody played in the band, and Shelby is a cheerleader this fall for her middle school, so she too was in the parade. It was fun seeing them all participate, but really wierd to go to a parade without children tagging along!!!<br /><br />We lost our beloved Molly to the extreme heat this summer. We are still so sad. She was our sweet little dog of 4 years. Our pets become human-like and are totally a part of the family.<br /><br />We also found 3 kittens under our porch in June. One of them was so sick, we tried to bottle feed it and help it survive, but it didn't make it. The other two were nice and healthy. It's fun watching them explore and play. We are guessing they are probably about 8 or 9 weeks now. We found a home for one, and still looking for another home for the last one.<br /><br />We try to spend as much time as we can with our sweet little granddaughter <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_17" class="blsp-spelling-error">Jaedyn</span>. She is the joy of our life. There's nothing like being a 'Nana & Pappy'!!!!</span></p></span></span></span>Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04062259491320277599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6865317987502820369.post-33714831981907814812010-06-19T17:04:00.000-07:002010-06-19T20:57:41.514-07:00Exciting Days!!!Love is in the air and my family is growing!!<br />Brittany called me last night with the news of her engagement to Adam. I'm so happy for them!! Brit really seems happy and that makes my heart smile. They have chosen to go to the <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-error">Nauvoo</span> Temple on August 20<span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">th</span>, 2010. It's such a beautiful temple. And Brit was able to watch it being built, went to the open house, and if I remember right she went to the dedication as well. It's <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_2" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">definitely</span> a special place for our family. And now to be sealed to her sweetheart for eternity...<br /><span id="SPELLING_ERROR_3" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">Definitely</span> EXCITING Days!!Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04062259491320277599noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6865317987502820369.post-57649292688258843112010-05-17T20:10:00.000-07:002010-05-17T20:37:34.740-07:00All New to ThisI love reading blogs! For months I've been going to Selena's blog and reading some of her favorite blogs. So when Selena set one up for her little family, I immediately wanted to do one as well. The problem is, is that I'm quite computer illiterate!<br /><br /><br /><br />Thank goodness for patient children that are willing to teach their old parents new tricks! We've been working on setting this blog up for about two weeks, and now I 'think' we're on our way!! I still have alot to learn though. I still need to learn how to post pictures and such, but in time it will come.<br /><br /><br /><br />So keep checking us out and watch as I learn!! Happy blogging!!Lorihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04062259491320277599noreply@blogger.com1
